5-Chloro-N-{[(2-methyl-2-propanyl)oxy]carbonyl}tryptophan - Risk and Safety
5-Chloro-N-{[(2-methyl-2-propanyl)oxy]carbonyl}tryptophan - Introduction
5-Chloro-N-{[(2-methyl-2-propanyl)oxy]carbonyl}tryptophan is an organic compound with the formula C18H20ClNO4. It is a compound having a white crystalline solid.
5-Chloro-N-{[(2-methyll-2-proxy) oxy]carbonyl}tryptophan is commonly used as a protecting group in peptide synthesis to protect the amino and carboxyl groups of tryptophan to prevent unnecessary reactions. It can be used in polypeptide synthesis and protein engineering, and can control the process of peptide synthesis and modification.
There are two main steps in the preparation of 5-Chloro-N-{[(2-methyll-2-proxy) oxy]carbonyl}tryptophan. First, 5-chlorotryptophan is reacted with a tert-butoxycarbonyl (BOC) acylating agent to give BOC-5-chlorotryptophan. The final 5-Chloro-N-{[(2-methyl-2-propanyl)oxy]carbonyl}tryptophan is then reacted with the t-butyl hydroxyl precursor using protected tryptophan under basic conditions.
5-Chloro-N-{[(2-methyll-2-proxy) carbonyl]} tryptophan has relatively little safety information, but should be treated as a toxic compound. It may be irritating to the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract, and may be chronically toxic. Appropriate safe operating procedures shall be followed during handling and storage, and appropriate personal protective equipment shall be provided. Use must follow local chemical handling and waste disposal regulations.
